TEACHING WITH TECHNOLOGY

Technology is good in classrooms because students like those kind of tools also it save teachers time. but it should be used no all the time. I could see that teachers  here just use it in short time.It is helpful and i think that is a tool that should be used to help students but not all the time. But really we need to have it in our classrooms.When i say not all the time i mean that student need to develop their activities with their hands using pencils and pen.In Panama public schools don't have this technology but we can use other like tape , TV and WiFi but the internet is just used by the principal and computer lab teacher. I have some pictures as examples that i am going to show my principal and tell her how we can use it to improve student learning.

ENCOURAGING POSITIVE BEHAVIOR

I liked this observation task.How the teacher encourage students to have a positive behavior. i can show my students that each effort have a prize. So, get that they have in mind that according their good choices they are always get good things. So, to create in them responsibility. And as i have the idea how i can prize those students I know they are going to like it. It is going to be new in my class. Also, it is going to help the room teacher too, because she is with them almost all the class hours.So it is one of the many things that i am going share with my colleagues.If we work together we can change our students behavior.

Transition and Time management.

Teacher doesn't waste time. She is very organized each thing have its time. She use time limit So she doesn't allow students to do another thing just they assessment.They are busy all the time and i think that it is a part that we should take into consideration to have our students doing activities and put them a limit. I use it just with my second grader students .But, I noticed that  I need to use it with my pre-k students to teach them don't waste time.I could observe that each activity has a specific time.I am going to change my classroom time because I feel that I give my students many time to do a simple activity is due that  my high student finish and they want to continue with another activity in the book.know i now that i waste time that i can use in other activities.

seating arrangement

many time as a teacher i tried to sit bad behavior students alone or let them to chose where they want to be sitting . I can observe that teachers have a good way to organize students in a classroom. We don't have carpet in our classrooms. I sit them on the floor but i didn't practice it everyday just when I had a game.I can realize that we can sit students on the floor to modelate them the activities. I liked this way, and i am going to use it. Also I asked teacher if her decide where students sit.She answered me that she decide. She sit four students in a table trying to sit them a high level student in each table to help students with low level. They work together and help among them.It is a good strategy because sometime student understand better between them.I like because students like sit down with students similar to them. So, they don't work. It gives me ideas that i am going to do in my pre-k students.that I feel are a challenge to me because sometime in this c...

class observation

It is a wonderful idea that in SILC send teachers to observe native or non native teachers  teaching. I liked this experience. I enjoyed kindergarten classes that to me it is a hard job but I learned activities that I can put in practice in my classes.We don't have the technology that in those schools they have. But,we can use another kind of material where we can motivate and have our students engaged. Why I say that teach to a kindergarten is a hard job to me because students don't know write and read and i tried just to put them to color and paste and learn things to say in classroom orally. But, now I know that students can produce more just I need to put them the correct activities and let them to use and to  discover things and don't limit them.

Teaching grammar

I think that both methods deductive and inductive are necessary to use in teaching grammar.But, the inductive way put the students to discover themselves.Teacher can use more activities.it was wonderful to know many ways to teach grammar playing, talking, making pair, groups and the way how elicit the students.I can with specific examples or activities to take the students to the rules of the grammar. But we need both because not always we are going to discover something so we need the theory. The grammar classes help me to remember many things that I knew it. But I just did not used and I would like  to teach in the form that teacher used with us.I know that it is a challenge with students that are beginning  to use a second language and because some parents do not see English classes so important. 

teaching reading

We should prepare our students before the reading activity. Put them vocabularies related with the reading to help students in understanding what they are reading.Put them activities that be easier for them. To prepare them to the reading.it helps me because  I put vocabulary but always I read my students I do not let them to do it because I think if they read they are not going to understand. But now I can see that they can do it it is my responsibility to create good  pre reading activities that motivate them to read and understand what they are reading.
